Publish date: 2024-06-28

Boosie Badazz has finally been released on bond after spending a little over a week in jail, and he’s released a brand new album to celebrate the moment.

Taking to Instagram in the early hours of Saturday (June 24) morning, the Baton Rogue rapper, who appeared with a thicker goatee and Boosie fade, couldn’t contain his excitement in a video announcing his freedom.

“He’s Baaaaaack!,” Boosie screamed into the camera. “I want to thank God, I got cherries on my knees I prayed so much. My family, all the prayer warriors, everybody who came to San Diego to support me. Yeaaaah! Boosie Boo! Yeaaaah!”

“BET I need three tickets! I’ll go to the BET Awards, but I gotta go with my attorneys,” he continued, referencing this weekend’s 2023 BET Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Upon somebody screaming “Badazz,” once they saw the 40-year-old rapper, he reaffirmed himself toward the fan by saying, “Dat’s me! Boosie Badazz! Dat’s me n-gga! I’m out! Dat’s me!”

He then screamed his name a few more times in camera while proclaiming that he’s back and made sure to mention that his new album titled First Day Back is “pressure.”

Boosie Badazz (real name Torrence Hatch Jr.) was behind bars since last week when he was nabbed by feds while exiting a courtroom in San Diego, CA. He had just had a separate gun case dismissed by a judge, but the victory was short-lived as he was arrested as soon as he stepped out the building.

It was later revealed that Boosie was being held on multiple gun charges, including “felony possession of a firearm and transporting firearms across highways.” His original request for bond was denied.

According to federal court documents, which were obtained by TMZ, last week, the “Wipe Me Down” rapper earned himself an indictment thanks to some ill-advised Instagram Live posts.

In the posts, Boosie Badazz can be seen tucking a gun into the waistband of his jeans. The posts, which were originally made last month, were essentially what got Boosie in trouble as Federal law prohibits convicted felons from carrying and/or owning guns.

Right after his federal arrest, Boosie’s team issued a statement to XXL. “Boosie asks for prayers as he deals with this unfortunate circumstance in his life. He hopes that he can rejoin his family soon and knows that God got him.”

He added an apology for his actions on Twitter: “I wanna take this time to apologize to my kids. I’m sorry and I love y’all forever.”

Prior to his release, Boosie’s request for bond in the gun case was approved on Tuesday (June 20) and set at $50,000 but federal prosecutors made it difficult for him to execute the bond, and filed a motion to keep him in custody until trial.

Although the judge ended up denying the request, San Diego prosecutors appealed the decision to grant Boosie Badazz bond again, and he wasn’t happy about it, which made him turn to Twitter late Wednesday night (June 21) to accuse one of the prosecutors, Mr. Michael Wheat, of misconduct.

“After the judge has granted me a bond, and I paid my full cash amount the prosecution refuse to respect the judges decision to let me go,” he wrote. “They showed no evidence of me being a flight risk or a danger to the community.”

Boosie then accused Wheat of mocking him by singing his 2007 hit “Wipe Me Down” at him while dusting off his shoulders with “evil in his eyes.”

“This is total misconduct from a prosecutor,” he said. “He is racist and has evil intentions. Now they filed an appeal asking another judge to keep me in prison.”
