How do you become invisible on Grindr?

Publish date: 2024-06-27

I like to check out Grindr during the day at work but I don't want anyone to see that I'm on, least of all my co-workers and my boss. It doesn't seem like there's an invisible option. If you click on "Go offline", the cascade doesn't refresh to show you any guys so what is the purpose of the offline button? How is "Go offline" different than just shutting off the app? How do I make it load guys without showing my profile??

Pack on 20lbs and stop waxing your hole.

by Anonymousreply 1October 24, 2011 1:20 PM

Get off the fucking Internet and get your ass back to work.

by Anonymousreply 2October 24, 2011 1:55 PM

Go to menu, choose to go off-line.

by Anonymousreply 3October 24, 2011 1:58 PM

I know how to do that, OP, but I am not going to enable a sneaky closet-case like yourself spy on your braver co-workers.

by Anonymousreply 5October 24, 2011 2:02 PM

just get rid of your photo and once you're sure your face is no longer there, go on and block everyone you know at work.

by Anonymousreply 6October 24, 2011 2:04 PM

I saw someone in my organization on Scruff last week. He requested "PNP-friendly." I would not have suspected.

I already explained in my post that this does not work. It doesn't let you load guys if you're offline.

I'm not closeted. I would just prefer not to be seen on there during work hours.

If you saw him, that means he most likely saw you too, no?

Turn it off. Simple. Done.

by Anonymousreply 10October 24, 2011 2:26 PM

Where do you work that this is a concern for you? Focus On the Family?

by Anonymousreply 11October 24, 2011 2:30 PM

[quote]If you saw him, that means he most likely saw you too, no?

Sure. I'm not concerned about that, because my profile is vanilla and boring, and because he doesn't know me anyway.

by Anonymousreply 12October 24, 2011 2:38 PM

Just don't do anything that might put your job at risk. It's 2011 and finding a job sucks. Grindr isn't worth it.

by Anonymousreply 13October 24, 2011 3:35 PM

[quote]Turn it off. Simple. Done.

It's not so simple if you work in another city and you're curious about the gays in that other city.

by Anonymousreply 14October 24, 2011 6:21 PM

There is no way to do it, OP, except to make your picture black then change it back once you are off work.

by Anonymousreply 15October 24, 2011 9:21 PM

I agree with R13. If you can't spend 8 hours at work without checking out Grindr, you're a dipshit and will likely get fired.

by Anonymousreply 16October 24, 2011 9:36 PM

OP is a shopgirl at Nasty Pig, R16. They expect that sort of thing from "the help."

by Anonymousreply 17October 24, 2011 9:44 PM

Wouldn't having it "ON" while your boss and co-workers are at work be the safest time? Unlike yourself, I am sure that they are actually working and not checking out who is on grindr.

by Anonymousreply 18October 24, 2011 9:47 PM

Get off Grindr while you're working just go on during your breaks or when you're in the shitter, or taking a smoke break.

by Anonymousreply 19October 24, 2011 9:49 PM

Op...you're checking it at work? Time for a sexaholic meeting, sweetums. There's a time and place...if you can't get through the work day without doing this, you've got issues.

by Anonymousreply 20October 24, 2011 9:50 PM

OP, you wouldn't have to become invisible if you didn't waste the company's time and money on Grindr.

by Anonymousreply 21October 24, 2011 9:51 PM

OP, you're a creep.

What's the point of even looking at Grindr if you're going to be hidden?

And wtf would you be worried about your boss seeing you on Grindr? That would mean he's using it too.

Creep.

by Anonymousreply 24October 25, 2011 12:40 PM

WTF? Creep? So many people use Facebook, AIM, chat, and countless other things while invisible. Are they creeps too? Maybe people don't want to broadcast that they're on all the time. You're an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 25October 26, 2011 6:20 AM

Grindr? Nobody uses that shit anymore. What, are you visiting us from 2008?

by Anonymousreply 26October 26, 2011 6:42 AM

Why don't you just save it for when you get home and get some work done?

Whore.

by Anonymousreply 27October 26, 2011 6:43 AM

what's better than grindr then?

by Anonymousreply 28October 27, 2011 12:22 AM

Sure if you work for a decent company you'll get fired soon and then you won't have to worry as you'll have the whole day.

by Anonymousreply 29October 27, 2011 12:29 AM

This made my day :) some of the best quotes. Op, this thread is full of trolls. I wanna know how to go invis too :(

by Anonymousreply 30April 6, 2012 12:55 PM

question: i don't have grinder yet but would like to know how accurate the location is as i am not out and don't know if downloading it would be a bad choice. Anyone kindly would help me?

by Anonymousreply 31May 6, 2012 9:10 PM

I have a completely blank profile for Grindr and have never added a thing to it. The profile has only ever appeared on my other Grindr account when I've messaged it, the rest of the time it's just there, lurking.

I use the blank one to send pictures of a hot American man from Texas, and when I get the face photos from men showing off their torsos, I say "thanks but you're not attractive enough" and block them. They never know it's me, and why would they!

by Anonymousreply 32May 6, 2012 9:32 PM

The only way to do it is already listed upthread. It's not going offline. It's not turning it off.

And that's all I'm gonna say just in case you are a Koch industries HR plant.

by Anonymousreply 33May 6, 2012 9:32 PM

The location has an accuracy of a few hundred feet.

by Anonymousreply 34May 6, 2012 9:34 PM

Grow up and come out already, R31.

by Anonymousreply 35May 6, 2012 9:49 PM

How often have you gotten pictures of famous people instead of a real person?

by Anonymousreply 36May 6, 2012 10:00 PM

R23, thank you for that link. Hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 37May 6, 2012 10:18 PM

R32, what is the point of doing that except to be an asshole and ruin people's self exsteam?

by Anonymousreply 38May 6, 2012 10:48 PM

Your using the companies dns...there a record of everything.

by Anonymousreply 39May 6, 2012 10:58 PM

Oh dear, R39. Do you know know how iPhones work? You must be elderly.

by Anonymousreply 40May 6, 2012 11:02 PM

Yea iphones connect to wirrless networks so you save money not using 3g...

by Anonymousreply 41May 6, 2012 11:17 PM

I am 44, so yes I am elderly.

by Anonymousreply 42May 6, 2012 11:19 PM

Some of you guys are being uber judgmental. It's just a technical question and you don't know his situation. If you have a smart phone and are gay, it's likely you have grindr too.

by Anonymousreply 43May 24, 2013 5:03 PM

What a set of c.u.n.t.s......... The lad asked a question that was fair enough!!! Prob all American answers

by Anonymousreply 44January 1, 2014 7:57 AM

Then what is your answer, UKLady?

by Anonymousreply 45January 1, 2014 1:42 PM

Change your ethnicity to Asian and post only a chest pic.

by Anonymousreply 46January 1, 2014 1:52 PM

Use Hornet instead - it has a very simple 'invisible' function

by Anonymousreply 47September 25, 2014 7:31 AM

No clue - but I see it all the time .. You people are dumb! Some of us professionals can't be seen due to careers! U f heads!!

by Anonymousreply 48May 15, 2015 1:52 AM

OP, if you have to even ask that question, you are way too old and likely very out of shape to be on grindr. Guys on grindr don't worry about who sees them on there. It's pretty much the opposite. You will not be able to hook-up with anyone on there. Ever.

by Anonymousreply 49May 15, 2015 4:07 AM

All the guy did was ask a questions, you dont know him,and dont have to be so rude,he just wanted an answer.

by Anonymousreply 50June 26, 2015 4:59 AM

[quote]All the guy did was ask a questions, you dont know him,and dont have to be so rude,he just wanted an answer.

He asked the question 4 YEARS AGO.

"No clue" - clearly, since you resurrected an old thread whose most recent reponse was 9 months ago.

by Anonymousreply 51June 26, 2015 5:11 AM

[quote]Change your age to 31.

Soooo many 29 year olds. I was on PornHub today and Dean Cox is on there now saying he's 29. He looks beat btw.
