Megyn Kelly's Husband Wasn't Impressed By Charlize Theron in Bombshell
Megyn Kelly has offered up her thoughts on Bombshell and now, in a new interview, her husband, Doug Brunt let viewers know exactly what he thought, too. People reports that Brunt and Kelly joined a slew of Fox News friends, including Juliet Huddy, Rudi Bakhtiar, and Julie Zann, to discuss the movie. Kelly explained that the roundtable discussion was a way for the women to share their experiences with sexual harassment at Fox News, since she had no connection to the movie. Her connections were to the real people, she said, so she wanted to give them a platform to have words.
Brunt, who wasn't involved with the case himself, offered his thoughts on Charlize Theron's performance, instead. He said that Theron got a few things right, but there were definitely some things that were off.
"Physically it was there. I thought the voice was forced, trying to get down deep. I just thought it was a little one dimensional and just didn't capture some of your humor," he said to Kelly. "I thought she did a nice, you know, she’s talented."
Kelly had her own thoughts, saying that she couldn't give a fair critique. "I can't speak to the job Charlize Theron did because I'm just too close to it," she said. "It's too weird to see somebody, who looks just like you, on the screen pretending to be you."
Back in December, Kelly told her Instagram followers that she had seen the film and called the entire experience "incredibly emotional."
"Sexual harassment is pervasive in this country; it can leave scars that do not heal," she said. "My heart goes out to those who've gone through it, who I hope might find some comfort in this story."
During an appearance on Good Morning America, Theron said that Kelly's reaction was "kind."
"I think she was incredibly kind," Theron said. "I've always said that I have great empathy for all the women who have to watch this film because I do think that even though there is a catharsis around it. It's also having to go back to a place and time in your life that you don't want to be defined by. And you just maybe want to put it behind you."
