Vine's Carter Reynolds was videotaped trying to force girl into oral sex
A popular social media star has been accused of sexual abuse after a video emerged of him apparently trying to pressure his underage girlfriend into giving him oral sex.
Carter Reynolds, a 19-year-old from North Carolina, has over 4.3 million followers on Vine. Until recently, he was dating fellow social media star Maggie Lindemann, a 16-year-old from Texas who has 925,000 Instagram followers.
This week, a video surfaced in which a semi-nude Carter can be seen partially behind the camera, and can be heard pressuring Maggie to give him oral sex, despite her repeated protests that she feels uncomfortable and 'doesn't think she can'.

Shocking video: In the clip, Carter can be heard telling Maggie (pictured) to 'do it' and pretend the camera isn't there, though she repeatedly says that she is uncomfortable
According to sexual assault laws in Texas, where Maggie is from and where the video is reported to have been filmed, any kind of sexual act between an adult - someone who is over the age of 18 - and a child - someone under the age of 17 - is considered statutory rape.
The video, which was published on social media on Monday, has sparked outrage among both Maggie and Carter's online fans, many of whom have been quick to accuse the star of sexual abuse and rape.
'She's a minor. She said no. More than once. Rape is rape,' one person on Twitter commented.
Just act like the camera's not there Carter ReynoldsAnother added: 'IT IS STILL RAPE, even if you guys were dating. It's rape. End [of] story.'
A third person noted: 'Forcing someone to perform sexual acts on you IS rape and doing any sexual act with a minor makes you a rapist.'
As the recording begins, the couple can be heard joking around. Carter confirmed today that he was in fact the person filming, and Maggie is seen on camera.
It is unclear what Maggie says at first because her words sound slurred, but it sounds like: 'And I'm gonna suck your p****.'
Laughing, she holds her hand as if it's a gun and pretends to shoot at the camera.
She then says: 'Take your pants off.'
Carter, with his face still hidden behind the camera, complies and undoes his pants, which can be seen on film.

But then the mood changes. As he continues to film both Maggie's face and his own semi-nude body, BuzzFeed reports that Maggie tells him: 'This makes me so uncomfortable.'
'Do it,' Carter urges, and again Maggie says that she is uncomfortable.
He interrupts her, saying: 'Stop, stop. Just act like nothing's there.'
'Carter, that’s a giant lie,' she says, causing him to laugh and offer to turn the light off.
'I don’t think I can,' Maggie then says. The young man offers to turn the light off a second time, and again Maggie says: 'I don't think I can.'
'Oh my gosh, Maggie, oh my gosh,' Carter is then heard saying, before the clip ends.
Playing defense: After the controversey broke, the 19-year-old claimed that the whole incident was blown out of proportion
This morning, Carter took to Twitter to address the controversy surrounding the video and defend his actions.
'Some of you guys have SUCH a huge misunderstanding,' he wrote in a long message, which was posted in the form of pictures on Twitter. 'First of all, Maggie and I were dating at the time.. it's not like she was a random girl or fan.
'Couples do stuff like that all the time,' he went on, justifying his actions. 'And no I'm not saying it's the right thing to do but it's the truth [sic].'
He went on to explain that the video was 'taken a long time ago' and was meant to remain 'private' - that he had 'no intention' of posting it, but someone 'illegally hacked' into his iCloud account and shared the video without his consent.
'I shouldn't of recorded anything to begin with and I should've just deleted it right after I took it, [sic]' he admitted.
Taking responsibility? In a Twitter post this morning, Carter claimed that couples act the way he and Maggie did in the video 'all the time'
However, despite his claims that this was normal behavior for couples, Carter did apologize for how he acted, saying: 'Yes, saying "do it" a couple times and "come on" was wrong on so many levels..
'I should've just stopped asking when she said "no" the first time.. and for that I'm very sorry to everyone I offended and especially Maggie. [sic]'
In addition, Carter insisted that his behavior had no negative impact on his relationship with Maggie, and that the couple was 'completely fine' after the incident - despite the fact that, after they broke up in December of 2014, Maggie publicly accused Carter of pressuring her to do things she didn't want to.
'I dumped him because he yells at me if I don’t do what he wants, or if I do anything he doesn’t like,' she wrote at the time. 'He tells me to STFU and doesn’t let me do stuff…gets mad if I want to hang out with friends. [sic]'
Twit talk: Carter, pictured with fellow social media star Matthew Espinosa, has promised fans a public response on Twitter, but he has also admonished those who are 'blowing things way out of proportion'
Admitted cheater: Carter and Maggie, who is under the age of consent in her native Texas, broke up late last year after Carter admitted to cheating on her
In his statement, though, Carter said he was overwhelmed with all of the 'hate and negativity' aimed at him, as he claimed he never forced Maggie to do anything: 'Some people are blowing things WAY out of proportion and making up all these false accusations about me saying that I raped her or forced her into doing something that she didn't want to do.. well all of that is a lie. [sic]'
Earlier today, he thanked those who he perceived to be on his side, tweeting: 'shoutout to the people who are so understanding and are not making false accusations and blowing things way out of proportion [sic].'
Within a half hour of posting his apology, the tweet had already earned 18,000 likes and 13,000 retweets.
Maggie, for her part, has not responded at all to the controversy, simply tweeting yesterday: 'love you guys always [sic]'.
Although the 16-year-old is under the age of consent in Texas, where she lives, she is of consenting age in North Carolina, where Carter is from.
